Conditions For Intercessory Prayer

1. Have FAITH (Mark 11:22) It is the size of our God, not the size of our faith, that matters.

2. Be HUMBLE (Matthew 6:5-6) Have a right estimate of yourself and pray to be heard by God, not to be seen by others.

3. FORGIVE ALL (Mark 11:25) God will not open His hand to those who close their hearts against others.

4. Be PERSISTENT (Luke 18:1) This is to intensify your desire and increase your faith, not to overocmeany reluctance in God.

5. Be UNSELFISH (I Corinthians 10:31) Our first concern should be the glory of God, not the granting of our selfish whims.

6. Examine yourself for UNCONFESSIONED SIN (I Peter 3:12) God's work in our lives will be hindered, if not halted, if we are disobedient in any area.

7. ABIDE in Christ (John 15:7) Prayer is esentially communion, not petition. The petitions, if present, arise out of the communion. The abiding precedes the asking.

8. RECOGNIZE that the Spirit intercedes for us (Romans 8:26-27) Being filled with the Spirit is the ultimate secret of meeting all of the above conditions of prayer. Praying in the Spirit has to do with the irit guiding our prayers so that we know and respond to the heart of God and not our weakness.
