"When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
~ II Chronicles 7:13-14
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.... Psalm 33:12
The National Day Of Prayer (NDOP) is a day set aside to pray for our nation. The designated day, the first Thursday of May, belongs to ALL citizens. This annual event was not created for political reasons or to promote any other agenda except prayer. We pray for our leaders, for our communities, for our churches, for our families, for our children and for each other. The National Day Of Prayer is a day to ask God to heal us, to heal our nation and to bring us together in true unity.
The National Day Of Prayer (NDOP) is for ALL citizens. Christians throughout the United States will gather at court houses, parks, churches, campuses and many other places. Christians will pray for America, for elected officials, for our neighborhoods, for our schools, for our families. There will be locally-led observances in every state and county. Traditional observances include prayer at the court houses, prayer breakfasts, youth rallies, evening prayer services, prayer luncheons, and church prayer vigils.
America, if there was ever a time for prayer,
it's now.
Somehow we must find the courage to unite. We must set aside color, age, denominational tags, our secondary agendas and economic status. America, we must pray.
America must pray. We must stop blaming the curse on our land on Wall Street and Washington and Hollywood. It is easier to point the finger, but we must take the time to look within ourselves. It is time to pray.
For the President and Vice President and their staffs and families.
For all other national leaders and the families of those who serve our great nation
For your state officials and their support staff
For your county, city and local governmental officials
For Peace Officers (and other community servants) in your community
For the Military serving here and abroad
For Veterans and their families, who have sacrificed to serve our nation
For Children and Schools
For our urban centers
For business and industry
For your Pastors and Church Leaders and your Church Family.
For your neighborhood
(You don't have to pray for all of these subjects. Choose the ones that are significant to you and add your own to the list. Remember to keep your prayers from being political in nature.Glorify God. Promote unity. Pray for America.)
Although the National Day of Prayer is set aside for observance on the first Thursday of each May, prayers for our nation shouldn't be limited to one day. Please continue to keep America and her leaders in your prayers EVERY day of the year!
