MY TESTIMONY (by Scottie, 2000)

My name is Scott, and I am Dan and Leesa's youngest child. I am eleven years old, and everyone says that I'm very mature for my age. Like my father, I am an artist, and I am a straight-A student.

So when my uncles and Daddy became Christians, their lives and their conversations got my attention right away. I knew it was the desire of my father's heart to see his children become Christians, too. And I heard my Uncle Kevin tell him that it would probably happen when we reached the age of acountability.

My parents started going to church, and I listened to the sermons and got involved in a Sunday school class. I understood everything that was said in church. I understood the sermons about Jesus, the lessons that the teacher planned for us, and even the meaning of the songs sung in service each week.

That made me think about my own life, and where I stood with the Lord. And I knew deep inside that if I could understand all of that, I had already reached my age of accountability. And I knew that if something happened and I was killed, I could not stand before God and say "But I'm just a kid, I knew nothing about you." And that's when I decided that I wanted to be a Christian. Not just to please my father, but to please my Heavenly Father most of all.

And so, I knealt at church one Sunday and prayed, receiving Jesus into my heart. And I'm so happy I did! Because I AM a child, I can't claim to have experienced the changes in my life that others in my family have. Nor can I have a very powerful testimony at this point in my life. But I can say that although the Lord didn't have much to save me from, He has certainly spared me from alot of things. And I think being protected from sin is even better than being rescued from sin. Because whatever you have in your past, we all need to be saved just the same. If being good your whole life was all it took to get you into Heaveen, the there would have been no reason for Jesus to come to earth, be betrayed, tortured, killed and rise again.

But He did! He has gone to prepare a place for us, and He's giving us time for us to prepare ourselves for that place. And I plan to be ready when He returns!
